Viking refurbishment being considered

The UK MoD’s Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation is considering the refurbishment of the fleet of BAE Systems Hägglunds BvS-10 Viking amphibious All Terrain Vehicles that are in service with 3 Commando Brigade, Royal Marines.

The refurbishment would start in 2010, when the Vikings are to be replaced in Afghanistan by ST Kinetics Broncos. It may also involve upgrading the Vikings to Mk 2 standard, with improved payload, IED protection, mobility and ergonomics.
