HAL to develop turbo-prop trainer

India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL) is planning to develop a two-seat turbo-prop trainer aircraft to meet the primary training needs of the Indian Air Force after it phases out its HPT-32 Deepak trainer by 2014.

Unlike the Deepak, the new aircraft will feature an air conditioned tandem cockpit, Head Up Displays (HUDs), an on-board computer, ejection seats and retractable landing gear.
