CANADA
1,500 SMP trucks to be purchased
Following on from the order for 1,300 Navistar MILCOTS trucks (MPI February 1, 2009, page 12), the Canadian Army is now planning to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) this summer for 1,500 Standard Military Pattern (SMP) trucks, plus armour protection kits and load handling system trailers. The contract is expected to be awarded in autumn 2010 and first deliveries are scheduled for autumn 2011.
Among the manufacturers expected to bid are: Navistar Defence, Oshkosh, Mercedes-Benz Canada, Stewart & Stevenson and MAN Trucks.
