Turkey to give 20 Mi-17 helicopters?
The Government in Ankara is
preparing to donate about 20 Russian-built Mil Mi-17 utility helicopters to the Afghan National Army Air Corps (ANAAC). Turkey acquired the
helicopters in the early 1990s for its para-military Gendarmerie.
In addition, Turkey may provide more trainers for the ANA and allow the US Air Force to stage logistics support for Afghanistan through an airbase in the Black Sea port of Trabzon.
