Development of HF radio module for joint SDR

The German Armed Forces’ Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology has awarded the Hagenuk Marinekommunikation GmbH (HMK) subsidiary of Atlas Elektronik a contract, of undisclosed value, to develop the HF radio module for the Armed Forces’ Joint Radio Systems (SVFuA). The order also covers the corresponding accessories, such as power amplifiers and antenna interface equipment.

The SVFuA systems provide the basis for the Armed Forces’ future generations of Software Defined Radios (SDRs). These next generation, mobile radio systems will be based on the standardised Software Communications Architecture (SCA). They can then be deployed as network nodes and also as terminals with loadable narrowband and wideband waveforms.
