SOUTH AFRICA

Marine sea safety training centre: The South African Department of Defence has identified a new requirement for a comprehensive marine sea safety training centre (MSSTC), to be located in Simon's Town. The centre will primarily serve the needs of the South African Navy, but will also be able to serve the maritime and fishing communities, as well as being available for use by the navies of other nations. The MSSTC will provide internationally accepted safety and survival training to all seafarers. The MSSTC is to be procured under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement. The DoD has appointed Pricewaterhouse Coopers Corporate Finance (Pty.) Ltd. (South Africa) as transaction advisers to prepare a PPP feasibility study. Companies wishing to be associated in any manner with this project should contact the issuing authority directly, both to register their interest and to obtain more detailed information.
