Cooling gas compressor unit for IRIS-T SL

Diehl BGT Defence has awarded contracts to the UK’s Ultra Electronics Precision Air Systems for the development of its High Pressure Pure Air Generator (HiPPAG) as the cooling gas compressor unit, along with the supply of Solenoid Valves for gas disribution to the missile Infra Red (IR) detectors, in the IRIS-T Surface Launched (SL) missile program for the German Air Force version of the MEADS air defence system.

Use of the HiPPAG system and solenoid valves in the launch vehicle will enable the IRIS-T SL missiles to continuously protect land assets from a variety of hostile air threats, by providing an uninterrupted supply of high purity compressed air used by the missile’s IR seeker cooling system.
