Cougar 4x4 for Ridgback requirement

On April 8, the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified the US Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to the British Army of 157 Force Protection Inc. 4x4 wheeled Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. The total value, if all options are exercised, is estimated at US$125 million. The maximum combat weight of the Cougar 4x4 is 17.2t.

This potential order is intended to meet the British Army’s requirement for 150 Ridgback Urban Protected Patrol Vehicles (UPPVs). The Ridgback  is required to bridge the gap between the Army’s 324 6x6 wheeled Cougar vehicles (designated Mastiff in the UK), weighing a maximum 23.5t each, and its 130 new, high speed 4x4 wheeled DML Jackal light Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit (MWMIK) patrol vehicles, weighing 6.6t each. © DAPSS  S.A., 2008, Switzerland
