ITT to bid for major communications contract

The USA’s ITT is to bid, against Italy’s Finmeccanica, for a major contract to upgrade the Soviet-era communications systems used by the Bulgarian General Staff and the Bulgarian Army, Navy and Air Force.

ITT says that, if it wins the contract, it is ready to invest E400-600 million (US$633-950 million) in the country. In April 2007, a consortium of Bulgarian companies was formed to work with ITT. The consortium includes: Balkantel, Terem, Technologica, Armitech, Sirma Group, Dasf, Bitova Elektronika, Inmak 2000, Optics, Electron Consortium and Blanor Services. © DAPSS  S.A., 2008, Switzerland
