Rifle components subcontract notice:  The UK Ministry of Defence, through the Combat Support Equipment Integrated Project Team (CSE IPT), has announced that it has selected two companies to submit proposals for the design, production and supply of new handguards and downgrips for use with the British Army’s in-service SA80A2 rifles. The specially designed units should give improved grip capability. The initial possible procurement is for up to 8,000 of each item to meet urgent operational requirements. There is a subsequent possible requirement for up to 15,000 units to replace in-service equipment. This notification is being issued for the benefit of potential subcontractors. Companies wishing to participate in any way in this procurement should therefore contact either the issuing authority, or any of the following two invited firms, as soon as possible for additional information: Edgar Brothers - Police & Military Div.; and Riflecraft Ltd.
