NEW ZEALAND

Communications training system:  The New Zealand Ministry of Defence has issued a notification seeking suitably qualified companies capable of supplying a major computer-based communications training system  for use by the Royal New Zealand Navy. The new system would replace the existing equipment (known as the Fleetwork Trainer - or FWT), which is very old, out-of-date and difficult to maintain. The FWT is a 13-station (12 student and one supervisor) networked computer-based training system. Personnel up to senior enlisted staff are trained on technical communications to enable them to undertake duties within the fleet. An advanced, versatile and fully integrated computer-based communications training solution is now required to help train personnel in current and foreseeable tactical communications and countermeasures. Since registrations of interest from potential prime suppliers were due as we closed for press, companies wishing to be involved in any manner with this program should contact the issuing authority immediately for additional information.
