Portable influence range:  The Australian Department of Defence has issued a notification concerning its intention of procuring portable influence ranges for deployment by the Royal Australian Navy. The range will be used to measure the magnetic and acoustic influence of mine countermeasures vessels. The range must be capable of displaying and recording the d.c. (static) magnetic signature and acoustic influence of the ranged asset. It must also be able to measure and record the pressure signature and incorporate a ranging  asset positioning and tracking system. The required type of range must be easily portable and capable of being deployed to areas of operation by air, land or sea. Its underwater components must be deployable by two persons, with diver support.
