MineWolf mine clearance systems

Following extensive trials in harsh desert conditions in 2006, the UAE Land Forces have acquired two MineWolf mine clearance systems under a multi-million Euro contract with BAL Bauer Industries Ltd. of Pfäffikon, Switzerland. The systems were delivered at the beginning of 2008, six months after contract signature, and training of UAE personnel is currently under way.

The tracked MineWolf can be fitted with an interchangeable mine plough or flail and, for the UAE, includes special modifications for lifting mine fragments buried in sandy terrain to the surface. It has been proven to be effective against Anti-Personnel (AP) and heavy Anti-Tank (AT) mines in many mine-affected countries including Sudan, Jordan, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. The MineWolf is capable of clearing up to 30,000 square metres per day. © DAPSS  S.A., 2008, Switzerland
