Optronic
sights for M113 APCs
Following an intense international competition,
Turkey’s FNSS has awarded Thales
UK a contract, of unspecified value, to supply up to 300 Thermal Driver
Sights (TDS) and 27 Thales Land Navigation Systems (TLNS) as part of FNSS’s
first phase of upgrades to the M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) of a Middle
East customer.
The TDS
is a compact, uncooled thermal sight manufactured by Thales Canada. The TLNS
permits the manual input of position, heading and laser range data, but is
engineered to allow automatic operation with the minimum of user intervention.
It is manufactured at Thales UK’s optronics facility in Glasgow. © DAPSS
