Second M-frigate handed over

On April 8 in Antwerp, Dutch State Secretary Jack de Vries transferred the Royal Netherlands Navy Multi-purpose frigate (M-frigate) HNLMS Willem van der Zaan to the Belgian Navy. Belgian Queen Paola re-christened the ship the Louise Marie.

This is the second Dutch M-frigate to be transferred to Belgium. In 2007, HNLMS Karel Doorman was the first. Another four frigates have been sold to Chile and Portugal, while the two remaining M-frigates continue to serve in the Dutch Navy. © DAPSS  S.A., 2008, Switzerland
